IHG Hotels & Resorts has recently announced the signing of a new InterContinental Hotels & Resorts property in Dominica. InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa, a conversion and restoration of an existing resort (Kempinski resort), will be the brand’s third Caribbean resort hotel when it reopens in the spring of 2023.
The 151-room InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa is located along Douglas Bay on the island’s northwest side. The resort will have four outdoor pools, a spacious spa, a fitness facility, and convenient access to the beach. It will have 8,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor conference space and an onsite business center to support corporate meetings and blended travel. In addition, it will have four on-site restaurants and beach and swim-up pool bars for guests.
IHG Hotels & Resorts will oversee the resort’s restorations alongside Range Developments, a hospitality investment and development company that has served the eastern Caribbean for more than a decade.
The island of Dominica is a small Caribbean nation located between the French territories of Guadeloupe and Martinique. Located in the Eastern Caribbean Sea, Dominica lies between the islands of Saint Lucia to the northwest and Guadeloupe to the southeast.
Dominica covers an area of roughly 290 square miles and has an estimated population of 75,000 people. The country is part of the Lesser Antilles island chain which also includes Barbados, Grenada, and Trinidad & Tobago among others.
