Atlas To Offer ‘Epicurean Expeditions’ in Europe

Atlas Ocean Voyages‘ product offerings have been updated to include year-round trips onboard its 198-guest luxury yachts. Beginning in April 2023, the line will offer new Epicurean Expeditions to renowned, flagship ports in Europe, in addition to exploring isolated, polar destinations such as Antarctica and the Arctic.

“We specialize in expeditions that provide insights, indulge the senses, and inspire discussion among like-minded travelers,” said James Rodriguez, president, and CEO of the company. “With the addition of our new Epicurean Expeditions, discerning explorers can now truly immerse themselves in the culinary culture of European ports, while cruising aboard a luxury yacht.”

During Epicurean Expeditions, a Visiting Vintner will deliver a lecture and tasting to discuss the intricacies of regional wines ranging from old Nebbiolo to Beaujolais nouveau. A Gastronomic Guest may be a renowned chef with a long history of cooking at Michelin-starred restaurants or a local culinary rock star skilled in the production of authentic, regional dishes.

In addition to demonstrations or interactive cooking sessions, the Gastronomic Guest will compete in the Yachtsman Cookoff, alongside the ship’s executive or sous chef, in the Atlas version of a culinary “ironman” competition. They will also accompany all culinary-themed Cultural Immersion shore excursions, which are included with every Epicurean Expedition. Depending on the route, travelers may experience tapas in Barcelona, visit a farmer’s market in Corsica, or buy chocolates and wine in Cinque Terre… to enjoy on board.

Epicurean Expeditions also feature the Atlas Heritage Dining Experience and Josper Grill Dining Experience at the yacht’s two open-air specialty dining locations at no additional cost.

Alma translates to “soul” in Portuguese. Alma Alfresco is an outside patio located behind the main restaurant. The Atlas Heritage Dining Experience celebrates Portugal’s gastronomic character through recipes passed down through generations and created using artisanal techniques. Bacalhau a Bras, from Lisbon, is shredded salted fish with potatoes, olives, onions, and eggs; and Torta de Azeito, from Setbal, is a delightful egg custard folded in pastry.

By night, after serving a relaxed lunch poolside, 7-AFT Grill morphs into a chophouse. On a famed Josper grill, the best pieces of steak and fresh seafood are cooked to perfection. Josper, founded in 1969 in Spain, has become the world leader in charcoal gastronomy. Black Angus filet mignon, New York strip, or a 35-ounce tomahawk – sometimes known as cowboy ribeye – may be featured steaks at the Josper Grill Dining Experience. Non-beef options frequently include lamb, shrimp, lobster, and vegetarian options.

Atlas’ stylish and intimate expedition yachts, whether cruising aboard World Navigator or the new World Traveller, offer every five-star comfort, from luxurious accommodations and an all-inclusive onboard experience to in-depth shore excursions and customized private tours, for a truly personalized voyage.
